In this 6J5GT/G triode the electrode assembly is formed on a small glass pinch. The envelope is a glass tube the width of the octal base. The anode plates are formed to leave an oval cavity for the grid and cathode.
The museum has examples of this valve in the classic G version (6J5G)and the WWII metal envelopes (6J5).
See our article on the dissection of the metal version.
The electrical characteristics of each half of the 6SN7 match those of the 6J5.
Printing on the metal skirt is the National Union logo and Made in USA.
The triode with pressed anode stitched together, copper supported grid winding and round cathode tube.
The skirt is not clamped to the plastic base. The USA Government procurement code of VT-94D is also present indicating complete equivalence.
The wide glass tube envelope is 29 mm diameter and excluding the IO base pins measures 69 mm long.
