The CV1071 (commercially the U52) is directly heated full wave rectifier with a rating of 500 Volts on the anodes and a PIV of 1,400 V. The CV1071 has a maximum reservoir capacitor rating of 16 µF and a minimum series resistance of 180 Ω.

The base of one rectifier. The ribbon operates at 800 °C and so the metal substrate need not be of very high melting point like tungsten. Here the ribbon can be seen to be welded to the support. For tungsten the wire would be held in a fold.
The classic envelope is 49 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins, is 115 mm tall.
