The GXU50 is a half wave Xenon filled high voltage power rectifier. The maximum peak inverse voltage (PIV) is 5.2 kV and the peak cathode current is 1,000 mA, four times the average current.
The glass is cracked in this exhibit as can be seen around the GEC label.
The active region is screened as UV will be emitted and possible soft X-rays. The getter holders can be seen alongside the pinch.
The lower screen with holes for the filament connections.
The top screen and anode dish. The anode lead in encased in glass for most of the length.
