The CV1166 is a directly heated triode that was used under their own designations by several of the UK services. It was called:- NR42, AR5, VR22, POVT140 as well as the prototype the commercial LP2.
The KB/Z identifies this valve as being made to specification K1001 or K1006, the B denotes qualification by a UK authority and the Z identifies the maker as MO Valve Company, Hammersmith.
The metal strips at the top grip the glass walls and thus hold the electrode system rigid.
The oxide coated filament is formed as a pair of hairpins. The upper mica holds the tensioning springs with hooks at the base.
The wide glass tube envelope is 28 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 86 mm tall.
