The ARP38 or Army Receiving Pentode 38 is a 1937 RF beam tetrode for RF and IF applications. As the KTZ35 it was part of the M-OV 'Uniwatt' range of valves for use with mains or vehicle lead acid batteries. After 1941 it was renamed the CV1343 and both Type designations appear on the envelope.
KB/Z identifies a valve as being made to specification K1001 or K1006, the B denotes qualification by a UK authority and the Z identifies the maker as MO Valve Company, Hammersmith. Here the UK Government up arrow and the letter Z are all that is present.
The CV designation.
The adhesive for the metal loaded paint obscures the inner details but on the top mica is a round cathode tube and the tops of the three grids.
The classic envelope is 30 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 73 mm tall.
