The CV1079 is a beam tetrode based on the KT8 and fitted with a ceramic base cap. The upper frequency limit is 65 MHz. In 1941 with the advent of the CV register that unified the UK service procurement of valves the RAF VT79 became the Common Valve CV1079.
The M-OV KT8 was based on the American 807 and was not as good.
The KB/Z identifies this valve as being made to specification K1001 or K1006, the B denotes qualification by a UK authority and the Z identifies the maker as MO Valve Company, Hammersmith.
The box anode with extra side flanges for greater surface area for cooling. The lower screen is a box and above the top mica is another screen.
Face view with ceramic insulators for extra high voltage insulation.
Inside the top screen can be seen the radiating fins attached to the top of the control grid.
The classic envelope is 50 mm in diameter, and excluding the B5 base pins is 112 mm tall.
