The box is 26 mm square and 88 mm long. The valve is held in place by a diagonal card flap running the length of the carton.
Granada is a UK independent television broadcaster and one of the original companies that went on-air in 1955. The company diversified into television set sales and rental. With the advent of colour television in the UK the sets were regarded as temperamental as well as expensive, so many people rented their sets and Granada was a market leader. As a rental company they had their own repair engineers and so the valves they used did not have to appeal to a customer in a shop. The group purchased centrally and had the valves boxed in plain cartons. The lack of a manufacturer name also suggests that the valves were imported.
