The R453 is a general purpose version of the R374 multialkali wide spectral response photomultiplier. The R453 has a relaxed dark specification. The front window is UV glass.

The curved dynodes are clearly seen in the R453 photomultiplier.

The end window envelope is 26 mm in diameter and, excluding the special 14 pin base pins, is 111 mm tall.
