The GNP-7 from ITT is a gas filled indicator tube. It displays the numerals 1 - 9 plus a left hand decimal point. The anode cage surrounds the set of shaped wire cathodes.
The front of the anode cage is is a thin sheet that has been punched with an array of hexagonal holes that offer a minimal obstruction to viewing the cathodes within. The red colour enhances the contrast of the neon glow within.
Face view showing the stack of shaped cathodes. Many of the wires have been cut, suggesting that this was the leading digit in an instrument that perhaps only needed numerals 0 - 4.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the base wires, is 42 mm tall.
