This is an interesting valve and had the distinction of working as planned. The C100A was developed by Robert Goddard for Collins as a way to avoid the de Forest oscillator patent. The valve has six vertical filaments just inside the glass and two central anodes, also running vertically. The perforated cylinders are the electrostatic control elements, and are connected to a base pin.
The wide glass tube envelope is 28 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 126 mm tall.
