The 6AU8 is a general purpose triode pentode for use in 600 mA heater chain television receivers. In Europe the standard was 300 mA heater chains as the mains voltage is approximately 230 Volts. In America with 110 Volt mains a 600 mA heater chain made better sense. Thus we conclude that this valve was for the American market and 525 line televisions. The 7060 has similar characteristics but a heater especially designed for 12-15 volt battery supplies in mobile communications equipment.
On the left is the pentode with the twin anode plates connected by a pair of straps.
