The EF83 is a variable-mu AF voltage amplifying pentode.
Lorenz is a German company that was taken over by the American ITT corporation.
Through the expanded metal screen can be seen the three wire grids. The suppressor grid has a wide pitch and is mounted close to the anode.
Below the lower mica is a screening plate that shields the control grid lead.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 48 mm tall.
References: Datasheet, 3002 & 1040. Type EF83 was first introduced in 1956.
