The 2HF is one of the small number of types of Loewe multi-valves. In this case the valves and passive components are for the purpose of providing two stages of RF amplification. The valves are used as space-charge devices and not as tetrodes.
This example has lost most of the red ink from the envelope. The style of the Loewe lettering can be seen here.
All that is left of the red lettering.
The two bi-grid section seen end-on.
The horizontally mounted cylindrical anode has been pressed from sheet and has tabs at the ends that come together and are spot-welded to the supports.
Here the central filament strand can be seen held in folds of the supports. The inner and outer grids are each supported by a horizontal wire that is spot-welded to the vertical supports. The grid wires look to be secured into notches in the support rod.
The twin sections. The use of glass rods enabled the assembly of the sections prior to them being fitted into the final valve.
The individual grid shapes can be seen, with the inner grid wires passing outside the support.
The open base with wires soldered to the domed pins.
The 2HF with the special base. The valve locating pins ensure the correct orientation and a twist locks the valve into position.
The base is Bakelite and measure 77 mm square and 22 mm front to back.
The back has brass loop springs and solder tags for external connections.
The wide glass tube envelope is 46 mm in diameter, and excluding the base pins is 146 mm tall.
