This exhibit is a directly heated diode from Hivac. It has a single hairpin filament held in a tension spring at the top. However, we can find no details of this device.

Face view of the bright anode. The moulded H imparts rigidity to the thin nickel anode. The tension spring sits above the top mica and is a coil with a central hook holding the filament loop.The thin glass tube envelope is 15 mm in diameter and, excluding the Sm4 base pins, is 53 mm tall.Reference: Observation. |
