The OSram CM8 is a photocell with the cathode connected to the top cap. The design looks to date from the 1930s.
The rectangular wire anode.
The photocathode has an included angle of about 80°. The anode pin is marked on the base.

The wide glass tube envelope is 34 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 107 mm tall.
