This exhibit is a Connecticut Telephone & Electric Co. J-117. The anode is external and operates by electrolytic conduction through the glass wall. This valve needed a a DC coil to allow it to be tuned.

This is a soft valve and part of the Sodion range.

This came from the Tyne Collection and is quite rare.

The thin glass tube envelope is 16 mm in diameter and, including the base pins, is 108 mm tall.
