The VA936G6 is a high power travelling wave tube amplifier with a range of operating frequencies around the 6 GHz band. The input is via a type N socket and the output is to waveguide.
The input beam power is a little over 8 kW and the output power will be in the region of 3 kW.
The identification label.
The heater and cathode connections are on the right. The collector is on the left and has a large heat-sink and is probably cooled by forced air in use. The input N-socket and output waveguide are close together and usually TWT amplifiers have a long helix section.
The collector end with the large area heat dissipater.
The control panel showing the six channels together with the tuning adjustment and locking control.
The underside with the leads to the collector etc.
The heater and cathode wires with insulator beyond. At the top right is the input port.
The wide metal tube envelope is 36 mm in diameter and is 380 mm tall.
