The 6JS6C is a purpose designed television line output valve, or sweep tube. Like many other line output valves they also could be used for RF power amplifiers. The 6JS6C was used in designs from the early 1970s.
The Yaesu FT-101 used these valves for the final power output stage operating up to 30 MHz and far outside the manufacturers original specification.
Looking along the grid axis. The radiating flanges on the side provide anchor points as well as conducting heat from the centre of the working faces of the anode. The copper control grid support is surmounted by a black radiating fin. Inside the anode can be seen the two inner aligned grids and above the anode notch is the bright beam plate.
Here the U shape grid fin can be seen.
The top mica. The cathode tube is rectangular and the heater can be seen to consist of three insulated hairpin loops.
The wide glass tube envelope is 38 mm in diameter, and excluding the base pins is 92 mm tall.
