The VA800 is a wide tuning S-Band klystron amplifier for both communications and CW Radar.

The frequency range is 1.7 - 2.4 GHz. The full output power is 10 kW with a 40 dB gain.

The VA800 is directly heated with a thoriated tungsten filament.

The output port to circular waveguide. The waveguide would be sealed and pressurised.

The worm reduction gear for tuning.

The concentric connections for heater, cathode etc.

The Varian Associates identification plate. The serial number is 801. It is heavy at over 22kg.

The envelope is  mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is  mm tall.
