Charlie Irish set up family business Lamba in 1952, the year the Queen came to the throne. The firm began as a supplier of television and radio valves, which were imported from the Continent.

In 1973 Frank took over the firm from his father, who wanted to retire. With the advance of technology such as transistors, Frank realised the firm needed to change if it was to survive.

So he decided to focus on the consumer market, in particular importing and distributing DJ products, everything from mixing desks to PA systems and lasers.

In 2021 the company is based in Dunstable
