The 20D1 is a double signal diode with separate cathodes. Possible uses would be demodulation of signal and AGC voltages. The 200 mA heater requirement indicates universal mains sets with series heater chains.
Our other 20D1 has the older style of lettering.
One of the diode sections. The active region is the central cylinder formed from the two bright plates of the anode. These halves are stitched together.
Seen edge on the diode sections are placed either side of a central screen.
The screen is just a flat metal plate held between the mica sheets.
The thin glass tube envelope is 17 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 47 mm tall.
References: Datasheet & 1040. Type 20D1 was first introduced in 1949.
