The U10 is a directly heated full wave rectifier. The U10 was introduced in 1930 and advert images show that this style of paper logo was in use around 1930-31 and thus this is shown to be one of the early U10s to be made. Later U10s were built into the shouldered or classic envelope. The maximum reservoir capacitor is not quoted, but at 60 mA maximum output current the U10 was clearly designed for broadcast radio reception in 1930s all mains sets. The 4.0 Volt heater is characteristic of the 1930s British heater standard.
The gettering obscures the anodes but allows the etching on the dome to be clearly seen. The balloon envelope is 50 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 106 mm tall.References: Data-sheet, 1040, 3002 & 1043. Type U10 was first introduced in 1930. See also 1930 adverts. |
