The CV1199 is a voltage stabiliser. A gas discharge tube that will regulate the voltage across it when run within certain current limits. See also NS2 for more images of this Type.

The marking where the paper label once was suggests a Marconi brand and thus an M-OV device. The construction indicates a robust design and this is confirmed by the data.

The wide glass tube envelope is 44 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 142 mm tall.
