The 6AG5 is a low power amplifier beam tetrode that features a low anode to cathode capacitance and has two small anode plates at a wide separation from the cathode. It can operate as an RF or IF amplifier with a maximum operating frequency of 400 MHz.
The coating on the inside of the glass obscures the internal structure. The cathode and grids are in the centre and the beam forming plates can be seen between the cathode and anode. Their form is as a flat rectangular plate with the centre removed so that the vertical sides are 3-4 mm wide.
The thin glass tube envelope is 17 mm in diameter and excluding the B7G base pins the valve is 47 mm long.
