The SU25 is an EHT rectifier with the distinctive saddle of the Cossor SU25 EHT rectifier design. The only non Cossor part of this exhibit is the Emitron wording on the glass. The anode voltage is given as a maximum PIV of 25,000 Volts. The reservoir capacitor is limited to 0.1 μF maximum.The Cossor design did not lend itself to the machine assembly of other manufacturers but the reliability of their design was much better - hence the buying-in and re-branding seen here.
The saddle and cathode rod can be seen inside this poor valve. The envelope can be seen to be cracked and the vacuum has been lost.The classic envelope is 49 mm in diameter, and excluding the base pins is 116 mm tall.Reference: 1040. |
