The POVT168 is a directly heated mercury vapour rectifier. The prototype was the RG1-240 The CV identification after 1941 is CV1626.
The etched identification is on the left of the image with the feint Mullard logo present on the right side of the envelope.
The open cylinder connected to the top cap is the anode and the coiled filament can just be seen below the cathode shield. The outline of the Mullard logo can just be made out on the full sized image.
The classic envelope is 45 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 109 mm tall.
