The DW2 is a directly heated device with the original UK standard 4 Volt 1 Amp heater requirement for AC valves.

The DW2 is rated to work with no more than a 16 μF reservoir capacitor.

Above the top mica are the filament tension springs. The oxide coating of the ribbon is clearly seen.

The classic envelope is 45 ;mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 103 mm tall.
