Type 6AN8 is a triode-pentode of American design introduced in 1954 for colour television receivers.
The pentode section is used as a video amplifier or reactance valve while the triode performs variously as a phase detector, gating valve, oscillator or phase splitter.
The triode is on the left. The 'pentode' is in fact a beam tetrode and the beam plate can be seen on the right where the anode is reduced in height to a strap.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 47 mm tall.
