The CV3997 is an X-Band cavity magnetron with integral magnet and WG16 flange. Terry Collard had annotated this valve as having been used in the 424 airfield control Radar. This Radar was designed in 1952.
The peak pulse output power is 15 kW. Operation is within the band 9.345 to 9.405 GHz.
The high voltage connection is within the screw-on plastic cylinder on the left. The powerful horseshoe magnet is fixed to the magnetron proper.
Side view of the magnet on the right. The output waveguide is on the left. This base measures 40 x 112 mm.
The base flange complete with WG16 flange on the right. The Rf is coupled to the waveguide by a probe contained within the glass end of the vacuum chamber
The thin metal tube envelope is 23 mm in diameter, and including the base is 80 mm tall.
