The EL2 was still listed as a current design in the 1950s. This is somewhat surprising as the side contact base was not the most reliable contact system in practice. The operating parameters, except for the heater, are identical to the EL32, and both were designed for domestic radio and audio equipment. This exhibit, branded as Dario and made in France, carries the MiniWatt branding as well. Miniwatt is normally found on Philips valves.
