The Cv6071 is a small reflex klystron for providing up to 100 mW at 3.1 GHz. The frequency range is 2.7 - 4.1 GHz. At 3.1 GHz the electrical tuning range is 35 MHz.
The top cap connection is the reflector. The reflector sends the bunched electron stream back into the resonator and the voltage range for the reflector is -70 to -350 Volts. Different peaks are achieved with different reflector voltages.
The two gold plated discs connect to the external resonator cavity. This is normally held at 350 Volts and can dissipate up to 16 Watts.
The top resonator connection has a multiple folded metal insert and electrons would pass through and be repelled by the reflector back into the resonator.
The lower resonator with the cathode below.
This second example has red lettering but is otherwise identical to the other one.
Made in England on the base cap.
The CV6071 was supplied in a screw top aluminium can. Inside the valve was protected by shaped sections of glued coarse hair.
The hair packing from the top of the can. The hole takes the top of the valve. The other piece holds the base with the large resonator ring between the sections.
The top is domed and a tape loop passes around it in the can. This loop allows the packing to be pulled towards the open end and thus release the valve.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 85 mm tall.
