The CV5298 (commercially the STC G55/1K) is a gas filled voltage stabiliser designed to work at the low voltage of 55 Volts over a current range of 2 - 30 mA. The regulation is to within three Volts for this range of current. For a fixed current drain the voltage stability will be very good. The maximum striking voltage is 90.0 Volts.
The G120/1B has a similar performance but is an older design with a B4 base. This exhibit is clearly intended to be a replacement for the older design as it comes with B7G to B4 base adaptor.
The Commercial identification of STC, Made in England and G55/1K.
The stabiliser removed from the adaptor.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter, and excluding the B7G base pins is 56 mm tall.
