The Type 18E is an audio output pentode that differs slightly from the Type 18.
The anode dissipation is 11 Watts, the load impedance should be 7,000 Ω and the cathode bias resistor 410 Ω. Under these conditions an audio power output of 3.2 Watts is to be expected.
Although the heater is different the 2A5E and 42E are electrically very similar.
The control grid has copper supports and a heat sink is attached at the top.
Here the grid cooling fin is easier to see.
