The 62VP is a variable μ RF pentode for use as an RF or IF amplifier and is equivalent to the Mullard EF41.In the literature Mullard state that although pins 3, 4 and 7 are internally connected together, it is recommended that the external cathode connection be made to pin 7 as this point offers the lowest connection inductance. The B8A base pins are equi-spaced around the pin circle and a location pip can be seen moulded into the glass to ensure the correct orientation. Initially B8A based valves had metal skirts with the locating pip and base spigots. The all glass version was the final iteration of the design before B7G ad B9A base types became standard around 1950.The mesh screen obscures the internal construction. Thanks to Mark Mallison for sending the images. The thin glass tube envelope is mm in diameter and, excluding the B8A base pins, is mm tall.References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type 62VP was first introduced in 1950. See also 1950 adverts. |
