The Le Clairton amplifier is similar to the Moorhead specifications. The name suggests a French origin but Joe believes it is more likely to have been a 'bootleg' made in Chicago by a company called Mazda. The electrodes are mounted vertically with a cylindrical anode. This valve was one originally in the Gerald F Tyne collection; few examples of this Type remain. Thanks to Joe Gruber for sending the images. The envelope is mm in diameter and, excluding the UV base pins, is mm tall.Reference: Joe Gruber. |
