The CV1861 is a directly Heated full wave rectifier identical to the 5Z3G and both markings appear on the envelope. The prototype was the 5Z3.

The maker code RA indicates a Ferranti product made in Edinburgh.

The twin rectifier sections with centre supports for the filament tension springs.

The oxide coated filament is a single inverted V of thin ribbon.

The top mica showing the loop in the filament ribbon and the oxide coating held in the hook of the tensioning spring.

The classic envelope is 51 mm in diameter and, excluding the UX4 base pins, is 116 mm tall.
