The DAF96 is a miniature dry battery valve exhibits very low filament consumption. This is one of a later generation of dry battery valves from 1953/4. It was designed for detector and first audio stage use in battery portable domestic radio receivers.
Cossor set-up ETEL in the 1940s to take over the valve and CRT side of the business. It is thus possible that this was branded Cossor to appear in a battery receiver made by Cossor.
The single strand filament passes through the pentode and then through the box anode of the single diode. The three grid supports can be seen as well as the suppressor winding.
Looking along the pentode grid axis. The shape of the diode anode is clearly seen. At the base of the anode the grid wires can be seen. The open suppressor grid, the circular screen grid and then close in the almost flat control grid wire.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 45 mm tall.
