The 5R4WGY is a high voltage power rectifier and was designed for transmitter use. It has a rating of 180 Watts. The maximum reservoir capacitor is specified at 4 µF and the rectifier needs a series resistance of 250 Ohms to limit peak current.

This exhibit is a more modern version of the valve and would be moisture stable the 5R4GY is of an older design but has the same rating.

The plastic base has a maximum diameter of 50 mm.

The wide glass tube envelope is 42 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins is 116 mm tall.
