The CV161 photocell is a relatively large device and the style of the screw top cap suggests a early/mid 1930s origin. The cathode is semi-circular with a rectangular wire rod anode connected to the top cap.

The wide glass tube envelope is 33 mm in diameter, and excluding the B4 base pins is 100 mm tall.
