The VS26 photocell is a relatively large device and the style of the screw top cap suggests a early/mid 1930s origin, but Terry Collard had dated this to the 1940s.
The cathode is semi-circular and deposited on the glass. A rectangular wire rod anode connects to the top cap.
The reverse of the glass is just a mirror finish.
The wide glass tube envelope is 35 mm in diameter, and excluding the B4 base pins is 101 mm tall.
