The 5Z4 was designed to supply equipment of up to 40 Watts total power, this rectifier was made by several manufacturers. This suggests it became a very popular type. In addition to the commercial 5Z4 designation this valve is also marked VT-74 as the US Government Type designation.The 5Z4, originally this metal valve design, was also made with a large glass envelope as the 5Z4G and a glass tubular envelope as the 5Z4GT.
