The CV9 is a high voltage power pentode with an 18 Watt anode dissipation. The CV9 specification was based on the commercial AL60.
A close-up of the electrodes above the pinch. The heater leads enter the cylindrical oxide coated cathode and the control grid supports are clearly made of copper for maximum heat transfer. The pinch construction involves considerable lead lengths with the added inductance and limit it places on maximum operating frequency.
Looking into the top of the anode cavity the cathode appears white and the wire grids can be seen.
The electrode system at the top of the valve. The tops of the control grid supports rods are fitted with cooling fins. The high voltage nature of the valve is clear from the use of ceramic insulators at all four support point of the anode.
The classic envelope is 44 mm in diameter, and excluding the B7 base pins is 123 mm tall.
