The K3081 is a reflex klystron local oscillator for X-Band radar. The operating frequency is between 9.35 and 9.55 GHz.No specific details for the K3081 have yet been found. However the K3081 replaced the K3003 before 1978.The previous output power is given as 55 mW and the electrical tuning range is 40 MHz. The beam voltage is 300 Volts. Normally these small klystrons operate with a 6.3 Volt heater.
The cavity operates directly into the WG16 and the small screws are for impedance matching. The large screw is for mechanical tuning.
The WG16 flange and just inside is another matching screw.
The copper tuning screw can be glimpsed behind the front matching screw.
The reflector connection at the top cap. Below is the tuning screw.
Clearly made in England. The evacuation tube can be seen as can the nut holding the valve part to the waveguide. The thin metal tube envelope is 16 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins is 69 mm tall. |
