The CV85 basket covered glass valve is designated as a trigatron. It is a triggered spark gap based on the V2023. It was used in the H2S radar. It operated as a pulse modulator for a magnetron and operated at 7 kV. The pulse delivered to the magnetron was 150 kW.
The KB/C identifies this valve as being made to specification K1001 or K1006, the B denotes qualification by a UK authority and the C identifies the maker as Edison Swan, Ponders End, pre Sept 1951.
The lower electrodes are held in a pinch and the anode is held from the top cap. The resin impregnated basket was required as these devices were prone to shatter in use.
