The CV85 basket covered glass valve is designated as a trigatron. Within the envelope can be seen the domed spark gap molybdenum electrodes. The central trigger electrode can not be seen. See the above article.
The C by the up arrow identifies the maker as Edison Swan, Ponders End, pre Sept 1951.
It was used in the H2S radar, and operated as a pulse modulator for the magnetron. It operated at 7 kV, and the pulse delivered to the magnetron was 150 kW.
The balloon envelope is 64 mm in diameter and it stands 144 mm tall.
