The VR57 frequency changer is of the octode construction. The VR designation indicates a pre WWII RAF use. The manufacturer is not marked but the external metalising is in the familiar Mullard house red and the paint has been annotated with the EK32 Type.
The original 1938 valve was the EK2 on the Ct8 base, the IO based EK32 arrived in 1940.
The classic envelope is 28 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 81 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1043. Type VR57 was first introduced in 1940. See also 1940 adverts.
