The VT-116 is the original metal valve 6SJ7 sharp cut-off pentode as purchased by the American Government. When the Glass Tubular version became available with identical characteristics the service code became the VT-116A as seen here.
The two lower screens are shaped and sit either side of the pinch.
The screens face view. At the bottom of the cylindrical screen can be seen the V shape of the lower end of the anode that lies just inside the main screen.
The wide glass tube envelope is 29 mm in diameter and excluding the IO base pins, is 69 mm tall.
