The 1C6 is a heptode or Pentagrid converter. Used as a self oscillating mixer for radio receivers designed primarily for local station reception. As was typical with Pentagrid converters the signal grid is taken to the top cap for maximum isolation of the signal from the local oscillator. The design was uprated in 1936 to the 1C6E.Thanks to Mike Edwards for the image. The classic envelope is 36 mm in diameter, and excluding the UX6 base pins is 78 mm tall.References: Data-sheet & 1043. Type 1C6 was first introduced in 1940. See also 1940 adverts. |
