The 5957 is a hydrogen thyratron for use as a pulse modulator. We also have the 5957E in the museum
The hydrogen reservoir is the cylinder mounted horizontally above the base.
The hydrogen reservoir seen end on.
The four pins are held in a ceramic disc.
The the top of the envelope looks to be made of uranium glass.
The wide glass tube envelope is 39 mm in diameter, and excluding the base pins is 97 mm tall.
