The HL2 is a general purpose triode. Mazda suggest that it is well suited for use as a leaky grid detector or first audio voltage amplifier.
The reverse is plain. Not visible in these images is the feint green lettering and the Mazda name.
The balloon envelope is 38 mm in diameter, and excluding the B4 base pins is 88 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet, 1040 & 1043. Type HL2 was first introduced in 1931. See also 1931 adverts.
